What is Fibromyalgia?
Fibromyalgia (FM or Fibro) is a name for widespread pain affecting the muscles, Tender points in certain areas of the body, when applying pressure to these points most people will find it uncomfortable, but as a Fibromyalgia sufferer feel tender without applying pressure. In the past Fibromyalgia was named as Fibrositis, but there were not signs of inflamation of the tendons or ligaments, mostly pain, so it was renamed Fibromyalgia. Fibro (Fibrous tissue) - My- (Muscles) - Algia - (Pain/tenderness). Symptoms include- Pain, Fatigue (tiredness), sleep disturbance. Pain many sufferers have are aching, stiffness, around the joints. May be worse in the morning, Night, but often throughout the day. Often pain is felt all over and not one specific area. Muscular fatigue and loss of stamina, lack of energy, is sometimes most severe in fibromyalgia sufferer. For further information on symptoms click on the Symptom tab on this site.
